DEFIANCE TO OPPONENTS.
Labout celebrated its successes at the General Election by holding what was described as a 'Victory demonstration' at the Albert Hall last night. An indication of the extent of the successes was given on the programme, which displayed the names of 193 Socialist MP's, men and women. The meeting itself was a notable success, being attended by some 12,000 people."

"Miss Margaret Bondfield MP, said that they came as a party with a great message of hope - the message of putting the first things first. The greatest tragedy of the age was that of the young boys and girls leaving school and wasting their precious formative years, the character-making years, in a hopeless miserable search for a place in the world. where they could use their mechanical energy. The Labour Party were bringing a new dignity into the meaning of words. They had dignified the word "labour." They had a party based upon great ideals. They belonged to the great inheritance of those who believed, not in the superficial equality like cutting down everybody to the same height - that kind of equality was abhorrent to them - but they want equality of opportunity for every child who that was born to give service to the very top of its capacity."
