Biography | Dave 'Boy' Green, Won 82 of 105 amateur bouts. Given the nickname "Boy" by Andy Smith, his manager and trainer. Smith said that there must be hundreds of Dave Greens fighting throughout England, so he started calling him Dave "Boy" Green to set him apart. The nickname came from Eric "Boy" Boon. Both Green and Boon were from the town of Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, UK Held the British and European Light Welterweight Titles, and the European Welterweight Title. Twice fought for the World Welterweight Championship. He was stopped in eleven rounds by Carlos Palomino in 1977, and he was stopped in four rounds by Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980.
