BiographyPetal Miller is a dancer who trained in Australia and danced professionally with The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Canada, PACT Ballet, Johannesburg before joining Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet from 1975 to 1986. Petal’s professional dancing career spans twenty years and has provided her with a vast classical repertoire of soloist and principal roles.

Working with Dame Ninette de Valois, Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan and Sir Peter Wright encouraged her to develop her own choreographic skills and as Assistant to the Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet she was jointly responsible for the day to day running of a large company. This period allowed her to choreograph her own ballets for the Australian Ballet including Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and La Favorita as well as assisting on the staging of many of The Australian Ballets highly acclaimed full length ballets.

In 1993 she was commissioned by The Australian Ballet School to choreograph The Snow Queen followed by The Red Shoes. Both ballets were created as showcase pieces, especially, choreographed to tease out the strength, technique and creativity of The Australian Ballet School’s young dancers.

In 2000 Petal Miller-Ashmole joined The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge, as Classical Ballet Teacher and in 2005 she was appointed to the position of 3rd Year Graduate Teacher at The Royal Ballet School, Upper School, Covent Garden. Her choreography for The Royal Ballet School was highly acclaimed both in London at the Royal Opera House performances and on the Dresden, Portuguese and USA tours.
