BiographyLucille Graham (born 25 July 1920, Abergwynfi, Wales) is a Welsh soprano. Graham had her first singing lessons from her father and subsequently came to London for further training. Her first broadcast for the BBC was in 1951, and she was soon in demand for all kinds of radio programmes. Her TV debut came in 1953 - and she held the honour of being the first female to sing on commercial television in Britain, in the role of Lucia in 'Lucia di Lammermoor'. She became a firm favourite with listeners and viewers alike, mainly in variety, as a regular in shows such as 'The Kenneth McKellar TV show' and 'Make Mine Music'. She also performed on the concert platform and in oratorio. During her career she travelled abroad extensively. Her accompanist for a period was Rex Stephens.
