BiographyBass-baritone Stefano de Peppo, a native Italian, began his musical career when as a kid he was chosen to be part of the Children's Chorus of Teatro alla Scala of Milan for 7 years, and he continued his training with vocal studies at the Civic School of Music of Milan.
Engagements for 2008/2009 include Die Zauberflote (Papageno), don Giovanni (Leporello), Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro), Cosi fan tutte (don Alfonso), don Pasquale (title role), L’elisir d’amore (Dulcamara), Barbiere di Siviglia (Bartolo), La Boheme (Schaunard) in USA, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Colombia.
In 2007 he was Leporello at Gran Teatro of Cordoba (Spain), don Alfonso at New Israeli Opera, don Pasquale at Connecticut Grand Opera, Leporello and Papageno in a USA Tour with Mozart Festival Opera, Dulcamara at Teatro de Aguascalientes, Mexico.
In 2006 he has been invited by Placido Domingo at Washington National Opera to take part to William Friedkin’s successful production of Gianni Schicchi (as Betto) with Samuel Ramey in the title role. He also sang Leporello in Milan and at Connecticut Grand Opera, and his first Papageno with great acclaim at Wichita Grand Opera and in Boston’s Cutler Majestic Theatre. In 2005 he was Bartolo in a production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Colon in Bogota, Colombia. He also appeared as Geronte in a production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut at Palm Beach Opera, with Daniela Dessi’ and Fabio Armiliato.
During the summers of 2004 and 2005 he performed Leporello in Prague in the Estates Theatre (the Theatre where don Giovanni was premiered in 1787), and together with Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro in USA during fall/winter 2004-2005 Tour with Mozart Festival Opera.
Among the highlights of 2003 he very succesfully sang Mustafa in a new production of L'Italiana in Algeri performed at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and Annibale Pistacchio in Donizetti’s Il Campanello at Symphony Space in New York with New York Chamber Opera.


Additional engagements in 2000, 2001 and 2002 included the Sacristan in Tosca and Alcindoro/Benoit in Boheme for Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Count Robinson in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio segreto in Tel Aviv, Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Argentina in Rome with Renato Bruson as the Don (production which was taped by the Italian RAI TV and released as a commercial DVD), and Betto in Gianni Schicchi at Los Angeles Opera.
He made his Minnesota Opera debut with Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia and also appeared with Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall in Les Huguenots and Connecticut Grand Opera as Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte. He appeared with Portland Opera Repertory Theatre as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. He opened Bellas Artes Season as Leporello. Additionally, he sang Leporello in Jerez, Spain, Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Dulcamara at Palm Beach Opera under the baton of Maestro Anton Guadagno after singing Dulcamara in Tenerife, and made his New York debut as Don Magnifico at Julliard Theatre in Lincoln Center. His Canadian debut in 1999 as Mustafa in L'Italiana in Algeri with Opera Hamilton was very successful.

Mr. de Peppo also appeared as Tio Salvador with the BBC Orchestra in a concert version of La Vida Breve at Royal Festival Hall in London, in Rossini's Stabat Mater with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Puerto Rico and of Mexico City, in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Mozart's Requiem with the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Mexico.
