| Biography | Chinese baritone ZhengZhong Zhou studied at Shanghai Conservatoryof Music and at CNIPAL (Centre national dinsertion professionnelle dartisteslyriques) in Marseille. He won 3rdprize at the Toulouse International Singing Competition in 2012.
ZhengZhong Zhou was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at CoventGarden for the 10-11 and 11-12 seasons, during which time he stood in for Dmitri Hvorostovsky to sing Valentin in Faustto critical acclaim: "his singing of 'Avant de quitter ces lieux' revealeda resplendent, baritone of noble timbre and impeccable style, who made everyword speak. More importantly, his youthful looks and elegant acting made him amore sympathetic figure than usual, avoiding unseemly melodramatics in hisdeath scene." (High Canning, Opera magazine). |
