BiographyThe Tabernacle Morriston choir was formed in 1876 and is still one of the largest mixed choirs in Wales.

The choir has sung in many venues throughout the country, including The Royal Albert Hall, St. David’s Hall Cardiff, Llandaff Cathedral, The Brangwyn Hall Swansea as well as its regular performances at the famous Tabernacle Chapel, Morriston. The choir has performed many times for Radio 3, Radio Cymru, BBC1 and BBC2. The choir was the first Welsh choir to appear on BBC2 singing Bloch’s Sacred Service with the late Sir Geraint Evans. The choir has made a number of overseas tours. The first was a visit to Brussels in 1992, Hungary in 1994 to take part in a performance of Belshazar’s Feast, Pau, Swansea’s French twin town, in 1997 and Vienna in 2000.

The choir takes great pride in encouraging young singers embarking on a professional career such as Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans, Jason Howard, Richard Allen, Natalya Romaniw, Janet Watson and numerous others. In recognition of this, Bryn Terfel, who has sung with the choir many times, agreed to become the choir’s Life Patron.
