BiographyAfter turning pro at the age of just 19, Larsson won his first career Tour singles title in 1991 in Florence, this was also the stage where he won his first career Tour doubles title one year later.
Perhaps Larsson’s finest moment was winning the 1994 Grand Slam Cup, defeating the then World No.1 Pete Sampras 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. It was also in this year that Larsson reached the French Open semi-final, his best appearance at a Grand Slam tournament.
Larsson saw tremendous success representing Sweden in the Davis Cup, where he maintained an impressive 13-6 record. In 1994 he also won a pivotal match in the semi-final against the United States to send Sweden through to the final. Larsson again produced a magnificent display against Russia in the final, winning both his singles matches and ensuring that Sweden lifted the Salad Bowl. Again in 1997 Sweden faced the United States, this time in the final. Larsson won both his singles matches against Michael Chang and Pete Sampras (who was force to retire) to help win his second Davis Cup World title.
Larrson currently resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco with his wife Jenny and daughter Rebecca, since his retirement he has helped to raise a significant amount of money for the Swedish Tennis Federation to help junior tennis programmes.
