BiographyRussian soprano Vlada Borovko joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the start of the 2015/16 Season. In her first Season her roles included Frasquita (Carmen), Xenia (Boris Godunov), Anna (Nabucco) and Violetta (La traviata). In the 2016/17 Season her roles include Clotilde (Norma), Ermione (Oreste), Mlle Jouvenot (Adriana Lecouvreur) and Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore).

Borovko studied foreign languages at the Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod and opera singing under Galina Lastovka at the Kazan State Conservatory. While a student, she participated in the world opera premieres of two contemporary works and sang Stephano (Roméo et Juliette) in Kazan. She made her professional opera debut as Mércèdes (Carmen) at Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre and sang Annie and Strawberry Woman (Porgy and Bess) with Marco Boemi at the International Shalyapin Opera Festival.

Following participation in the First Russian Festival for Young Musicians in Sviyazhsk, Borovko won support from the charity Sforzando. She was a finalist in the First International Eva Marton Singing Competition. Other awards include a special prize from the Bartók Plus Opera Festival.
