BiographyJoseph was born in Lancashire and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

In recent seasons he has sung Don Basilio The Marriage of Figaro, Mayor Upfold Albert Herring, Snout Midsummer Nights Dream and Enoch Snow Carousel for Opera North, Goro Madama Butterfly and Roscoe Follies for Opéra de Toulon, Don Curzio Le Nozze di Figaro for Opéra de Dijon and a revival of the ‘Evening Standard Award’ winning production of Weill’s Street Scene for The Opera Group at the Young Vic and on U.K. tour playing Lippo Fiorentino.

Other recent roles include: Industrialist/Angel 5 Seven Angels by Luke Bedford, for the Opera Group; Lippo Fiorentino Street Scene for Opéra de Toulon; Anthonio The Duenna for English Touring Opera; Ignatz Mouse Krazy Kat for Tete a Tete Opera; Dick Dauntless Ruddigore and Fairfax Yeomen of the Guard for Trent Opera and Trevelyan One Day Two Dawns, a community project for English Touring Opera which won the R P S Education Award.

Joseph performed as principal tenor with the New D’Oyly Carte Opera Company for five years, until the company closed in 2003, with productions at the Savoy Theatre, at the Royal Festival Hall, on U.K. tour and in the USA. On the concert platform he has performed in the U.K. in Europe and the U.S, for the D’Oyly Carte in the U.K. and Egypt and for the Concordia foundation in Rangoon. He performed on a number of cruises for Swan Hellenic, with Opera Interludes for Noble Caledonia and with the Concordia Foundation on the QE2 for Cunard. He is also one of the original performers for the internationally acclaimed singing waiters group “The Three Waiters” with whom he has performed for over 10 years.

Joseph’s other roles have included Basilio The Marriage of Figaro for Savoy Opera; Marco The Gondoliers and Bertie The Water Babies at the Chichester Festival; Box Cox & Box & Ralph H.M.S. Pinafore for the G&S Opera Co. at Buxton Opera House; Autumn The Faery Queen at the English Bach Festival; Ralph H.M.S. Pinafore for Opera Della Luna.

Future projects include Gunman Kiss Me, Kate for Opera North and Spoletta Tosca for Opéra de Toulon.
