Biography | Eleanor Grant was educated at Queenswood School, Herts (music and drama scholar) and is now a full time student at the Royal Academy of Music (double bass scholar). In 2011 she was invited to join the Barbican Young Orchestra and performed at London's Barbican Concert Hall, conducted by Edward Gardner. In 2013 she worked with BYO under the baton of Dudamel and in 2014 with Ed Gardner again at Milton Court. In the summer of 2016, Eleanor was selected to play with the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble at The Last Night of the Proms, performing the world premiere of "Raze" by Tom Harrold.
As a singer she has recorded for a number of film composers such as John Debney, Patrick Doyle and Alan Menken. She recently worked for top record producer Guy Chambers, singing solo backing vocals for Robbie Williams. She sings on several Hollywood film soundtracks, including Dream House (starring Daniel Craig) and War of the Buttons. Her voice opens the Disney Dreams show in Disneyland, Paris (20th anniversary celebration). She made her solo debut with English National Opera (2012) in Jacob Lenz (Hampstead Theatre) and in June 2016 she appeared in Tosca, playing the part of the Shepherd Boy at Chiswick House 'summer sessions' opera series.
On New Year's Eve 2014, Eleanor sang John Lennon's 'Imagine' whilst playing a white piano overlooking London's Houses of Parliament on the South Bank. She was invited by UNICEF as part of their initiative to help inspire a global movement towards a better future for every child. Eleanor was chosen by Richard Curtis to represent the UK and performances of the same song took place in New York, Cape Town and Rio de Janeiro.
Eleanor worked with Avex Classics International as a solo vocalist for Titanic LIVE and The English Patient LIVE. She has performed at the Shanghai Oriental Art Centre alongside the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
Eleanor is also an experienced actress. She held a scholarship for drama at her school where she has appeared in a number of plays. She has worked at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (Henry VIII) and on television (BBC TV's Chucklevision). She stars in the film Nativity! 2 released in cinemas in November 2012, working alongside Jason Watkins, Marc Wootton, Jessica Hynes and David Tennant. Recent films include "It's Grammar Time!" (2017), an educational film to help students all over Europe learn English. |
