BiographyIn 1897 Proudman emigrated to South Africa for health reasons and settled in Maritzbury, moving to the Presbyterian Church in Kimberley, and later as organist of the town hall, Durban (Durban and Berea Musical Society/Durban Orchestral Society).

'Mr. Frank Proudman has been appointed as borough organist of Durban in place of the late Mr. R. H. Macdonald at a salary of £150 per annum. Mr. Proudman is a local man, and there was some objection to the appointment on the ground that the Council should have advertised the position at Home.' (South Africa Journal 3 October 1908)
