BiographyBritish tenor Stuart Jackson makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as Irus (The Return of Ulysses) at the Roundhouse.

Jackson studied biological sciences at Christ Church, Oxford, and singing with Ryland Davies at the Royal Academy of Music. Awards include second prize at the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition and the Hugo Wolf Competition, Stuttgart. He was a 2013 Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival. In the 2013–14 season he was a member of Stuttgart Opera Studio, his roles for Stuttgart Opera including Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Orfeo (Orfeo et Euridice). He is currently a Classical Opera Associate Artist, his roles for Classical Opera including Scipio (Il sogno di Scipione), Osroa (Adriano in Siria) and Lucio Vero (Il Vologeso). Other engagements include The Fairy Queen for Iford Arts, Jonathan (Saul) for Glyndebourne on Tour, High Priest (Saul) for Glyndebourne Festival and Adelaide Festival, and Alcesta in Erismena (Aix-en-Provence and Versailles).

Jackson has appeared in concert with ensembles including the Gabrieli Consort and Players, Hallé Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Orchestra of the 18th Century, Akademie für Alte Musik and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, among others, in repertory ranging from J.S. Bach to Bruckner.
