Relationships | The Kanneh-Masons are seven brothers and sisters who all play a broad range of classical music. They have won many prizes and awards for their music, appearing in numerous television shows. They recently performed in the semi-final of Britain's Got Talent, leading Simon Cowell to name them 'The Most Talented Family in the World'. Biography | Jeneba Kanneh-Mason held the Entrance Scholarship for The Royal Academy of Music, and studies piano with Patsy Toh and cello with Ben Davies at Junior Academy. Jeneba gained Grade 8 Distinction on the piano at age 9. She also has Grade 8 Distinction on the cello and plays in the Academys Symphony Orchestra and in Chineke! Junior Orchestra.
Jeneba was a Keyboard Category Finalist in BBC Young Musician 2018. She was The Nottingham Young Musician 2013. She won the Murs du Son Prize at the Lagny-Sur-Marne International Piano Competition in France, 2014. She is also winner of the Iris Dyer Piano Prize, 2015, 2016 and 2017, at The Royal Academy of Music.
She has played numerous concerts in England, Wales and in Paris, as a recital and concerto soloist and as a chamber musician, and she performed (with the Kanneh-Masons) to The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in March, and to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at The BAFTAs 2018. She will perform Tchaikovskys Piano Concerto No 1 with the Nottingham Youth Orchestra at The Royal Concert Hall in March 2019, and Ravels Piano Concerto with The Orchestra of the Restoration in June this year, having performed the first movement with Sinfonia Viva at The Royal Concert Hall on New Years Eve, 2018.
Jeneba has appeared on several television and radio programmes, including The BAFTAs (BBC1), Born to Shine (ITV, 2011), Britains Got Talent Semi Final (ITV) The One Show (BBC1), Al Jazeera TV, Channel 4, BBC World Service, BBC 2 Classroom Heroes, BBC Young Musician Keyboard Category Final 2018 (BBC4), the BBC4 documentary, Young, Gifted and Classical, and the USA documentary for Sunday Morning (CBS). |
