Biography | For a time, Mark was the Chairman of the Gaumont-British Picture Corporation. He oversaw the 343 cinemas, theatres, dance halls, and restaurants owned, controlled or managed by the corporation and associated companies.
After WWI, Mark's brother Isidore started the Ostrer Brothers Bank, which funded their delve into the film industry. In 1922, Isidore bought Leon Gaumont's control of his film production company, and within a few years added Gainsborough Pictures Lts and backed Logie Baird starting Baird Television and Bush Radio. In 1942 he sold his share in Gaumont British to Rank. |
