Biography | Maggie Purvis was a well known Welsh operatic singer. When she was 14 she received singing lessons from Madame Clara Novello Davies, conductress of the Royal Welsh Ladies Choir. Purvis went on a short tour through England in 1886 and spent eight months touring America the following year with a double quartett party. Both tours were very successful. In 1889, she won a scholarship to attend the Royal College of Music and was trained by Signor Gustave Garcia. |
