Biography | Stephen Higgins is a conductor and pianist, who has worked with the UKs major opera houses including Glyndebourne, ROH, ENO and Scottish Opera. Most recently, he has conducted the LPO and the Philharmonia Orchestra in Jude Kellys new production of Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall. Other conducting experience has included work for the Opera Faber Festival in Portugal, where he has conducted productions of Don Giovanni and Lelisir damore, the Batignano Opera Festival in Tuscany, where he appeared for six years, and orchestral and chamber opera productions for Aldeburgh, the Northern Sinfonia, the ECO and others across the UK and Europe. Future plans include conducting Magic Flute at the London Coliseum for ENO and for a nationwide tour of opera highlights with Universal Records. An interest in community and education work has led to music directorships of many innovative and critically acclaimed cross-over projects. He has also worked for many TV and film companies in the rôle of Music Supervisor, producing films and documentaries for FilmFour, BBC2, and Channel 4. He is currently a member of the music staff at ENO. |
