BiographyCaratinga is a group of Brazilian and British musicians playing choro and other instrumental music by Brazil’s greatest composers from the 1900s to the present day, from early Brazilian tangos by Ernesto Nazareth, to classic choros from the 1930s and 40s by legendary figures Pixinguinha and Jacob do Bandolim, to contemporary greats such as Hermeto Pascoal, Guinga and Luciana Rabello.

Since forming in 2000, the band have enjoyed numerous high-profile appearances including performances from the Olympic Park for BBC Radio 5 Live, Royal Albert Hall’s Ignite series of free live music, the Eden Project, the Welsh Proms in Cardiff and the London Guitar Festival.
