SheKoyokh is a Yiddish expression meaning nice one!. The band formed in 2001, playing klezmer music the instrumental Jewish wedding music of Eastern European communities. We soon became fascinated by Gypsy music and folk music of the Balkans, travelling to Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece to study with master musicians.
SheKoyokhs members hail from the UK, USA, Serbia, Greece and Turkey, forging a unique sound that is traditional yet original. Our live shows are a carefully crafted, multi-lingual, exploration from the Baltic to the Black Sea with songs in Yiddish, Russian, Bosnian, Greek, Ladino, Turkish and Kurdish with klezmer instrumentals and folk tunes from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. |
