Biography | Tommy Barnham was an English boxer. He had 31 fights since turning pro in 1936, but his career was cut short when he was recruited into the Royal Navy during the Second World War.
His naval ship was torpedoed, but he surived 10 hours in shark infested waters with shrapnel wounds, eventually being captured in a prisoner of war camp for nearly 5 years.
His boxing career resumed after the war, and his biggest career highlight was coming close to defeating world champion Duilio Loi in 1951. |
