"HEART OF EMPIRE BALL
BRILLIANT PROCESSIONS.
...The Albert Hall looked extremely well, the ceiling draped in shades of blue and green. The central idea was apparently to show the seas round the Empire in all parts. The curtain of gold which screened off the organ had stencilled on it all kinds of fishes and marine creatures. In the centre was a silver waterfall and below again were blue and green waves, and in front the Dockland mediaeval boat, symbol of the settlements.
...There was a great deal of entertaining in the boxes. Mrs Arthur James, who had much to do with the success of the ball, was one of many hostesses. It was a very fine ball, and one which will be remembered and talked of in many parts of our Empire and at the heart thereof."
