Performance NotesThe event was the biggest comptition of its type in the UK. In its fourth year, it offered Britain's most talented designers of tomorrow an opportunity to show of their originality, uninhibited flair and craftsmanship to a discerning audience of their peers. 2,600 designs were entered of which 60 were chosen by the judges to be presented to the audience at this event. The theme of the 1987 competition was 'Smirnoff Fashion - Night and Day'.

Highlights from the event were broadcast by Thames Television on 26 February 1987 at 22:30 under the title 'Fashion '87 Featuring the Smirnoff UK Fashion Awards'.
