Performance Notes | "Night of Heavyweights. It was a night of Heavyweights at the Royal Albert Hall last night, and the Prince of Wales honoured it by his presence, but it largely depended upon the point of the spectator whether he - or she - was pleased or amused or mildly disgruntled at the end of it all. The promoter, to be fair, had done his best with the material available in this country at the moment, though the matching of the veteran Dick Smith with the aspiring Jack Bloomfield was an error of judgment, if not taste. The attendance, as usual, when big men are to be seen in the ring, was a huge one, and the vast oval building again seemed wonderfully well-designed for the purposes of boxing - with apologies to the great ones of other and more ethereal arts."
