Note Noire Quartet combine the musical worlds of the Mediterranean and Central Europe, taking inspiration from the ensembles of Django Reinhardt.
With a sound drawing on everything from the strings of Markos Vamvakariss rebetiko bouzouki to the gypsy violins of the orchestra of Sandor Lakatos, the quartet mixes Hungarian and Romanian folk themes with modern styles and jazz improvisation.
The group will perform traditional melodies as well as original compositions from their new album Oltreconfine. |
