Performance NotesEnjoy great food, drink and free live music in the Hall’s Verdi – Italian Kitchen the perfect place to wind down, laugh and eat well with friends and family over a bottle of great Italian wine.

As part of the Nour Festival of contemporary Middle Eastern and North African arts and culture, the London-based Syrian oud player and teacher Rihab Azar will perform a selection of hand-picked traditional songs and pieces from the Middle East.

Rihab’s focus in both her playing and teaching is the classical Arabic music repertoire as well as its neighbouring genres. By applying her own, distinct vision to live performances she adds a personal musical touch aimed at keeping these traditional pieces alive without distorting their essential characteristics, uniqueness or representations of their cultural contexts.

The audience are encouraged to sing along and suggest songs during the show.

‘My message is to celebrate the music I love with people.. Mainly music from the East, and beyond borders..It’s something very personal to me, and that is what has shaped my musical identity’
Rihab Azar

Nour Festival shines a light on the very best in contemporary Middle Eastern and North African arts and culture, each October and November, in venues across Kensington and Chelsea.

Each year, Nour introduces more new friends and welcomes ever-growing new audiences, all united in a desire to experience artistic excellence and thought-provoking work, which challenges stereotypes of this region of the world and its peoples, through cultural expression.
