Performance Notes | Chickenshed brings 600 children together for a monumental performance at the Royal Albert Hall, in partnership with Amnesty International.
In an uplifting and inspiring visual spectacular, Dreams of Freedom gathers the thoughts and voices of young people from across London into a vibrant exploration of freedom and identity. Performers from across state, independent and SEN schools will come together with Chickensheds Childrens Theatre members and Tri-borough Music Hubs The Young Singers choir to express their hopes for a better world through music, movement and song.
The evening will be introduced by artist and human rights activist Angelina Jolie in a powerful and personal video introduction, and the 9th Childrens Laureate Chris Riddell will join the performance to live draw on stage alongside 9-year-old Jude Holland.
This is a chance to come together, and draw all sorts of wonderful things based on freedom. Chris Riddell
The performance has been inspired by Amnestys childrens book of the same name, which combines the words of human rights heroes, such as Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama and Malala Yousafzai with beautiful illustrations by renowned international artists including Oliver Jeffers, Jackie Morris, Roger Mello and Birgitta Sif.
With original music and lyrics, Dreams of Freedom will offer a wonderfully life-affirming glimpse of a world that could be, if we are ready to listen and dare to dream. Do join us for what looks set to be a truly moving and unforgettable evening.
The event was filmed by the promoter for archive use.
A collection for Amnest y International was made post-show. |
