Performance Notes | Now in its fifth year, the award-winning Scratch® Youth Messiah returns again to the Royal Albert Hall, showcasing 1,500 young singers from youth choirs all over the country who come together to sing Handels Messiah with professional orchestra and soloists.
Voted Best Classical Music Education Initiative in the 2015 Music Teacher Awards for Excellence, this vibrant performance features children as young as six or seven making their contribution to the Hallelujah Chorus as they sit alongside more experienced young singers who perform the complete work.
The Scratch® Youth Messiah is a brilliant idea, expertly planned and superbly implemented. Once again an incredible experience, one that our young singers are unlikely ever to forget.
Ben Parry (artistic director, National Youth Choirs of Great Britain) conducts, with the English Festival Orchestra and young, prize-winning soloists.
This afternoon performance is ideal for families, being slightly shorter than the usual Messiah, yet still including all the best tunes!
The Scratch® Youth Messiah is organised in association with Sing for Water! and raises funds for the life-saving work of WaterAid through programme sales, advertising and choir fund-raising. |
