Performance Notes | Winner of the 2015 International Chopin Competition, Seong-Jin Cho makes his Proms debut as soloist in Chopins lyrical and much-loved Second Piano Concerto.
The Polish theme that begins in the mazurkas that swirl through the concerto continues with the UK premiere of Agata Zubels Fireworks, a celebration of freedom and of the present moment, written to mark the 100th anniversary of Polish independence.
In the second half, Gianandrea Noseda and the European Union Youth Orchestra turn up the intensity with one of the great Romantic symphonies, Tchaikovskys stirring Fifth.
Post show signing by pianist Seong-Jin Cho at Door 6. |
