Performance Notes | For the sixth year in a row, the award-winning Scratch® Youth Messiah returns to the Royal Albert Hall just before Christmas, showcasing 1,500 young singers from youth choirs all over the country who come together to sing Handels Messiah with professional orchestra and soloists.
Voted Best Classical Music Education Initiative in the Music Teacher Awards for Excellence, this vibrant performance features children as young as six or seven making their contribution to the Hallelujah Chorus as they sit alongside more experienced young singers who perform the complete work.
Soloists are Catriona Hewitson (soprano), Emily Gray (mezzo-soprano), William Wallace (tenor) and Jake Muffett (baritone). Ben Parry (artistic director, National Youth Choirs of Great Britain) conducts, with the English Festival Orchestra.
This afternoon performance is ideal for families, being slightly shorter than the usual Messiah, yet still including all the best tunes. Generous discounts available! |
