According to The Daily Telegraph (19 June 1873) the room originally booked for this event (likely to have been the West Theatre / Elgar Room) proved too small because of the demand for tickets, and the conference was moved to the main auditorium. Amongst those present were Lady Dorothy Neville, Lord A S Churchill, Sir Daniel Cooper, Sir T Bazley MP, Mr Bass MP, Mr H Durlacher Cole CB, Mr F Bovet (Shanghai), Mr J Chadwick (Manchester), Mr G Unsworth (Derby), Mr Peters (Derby), and Mr H C McDonald. |
