Performance Notes | "The Installation of the Prince of Wales as Grand Master of the United Order of English Freemasons, a ceremony which is to be performed in the Albert Hall on the 28th inst., has created so great an interest that the applications from the qualified brethren of the English lodges alone have been about 10,000 in excess of the number the vast building will hold." (The Times, 10 April 1875)
Guests included the Lord Mayor of London, members of the aristocracy, and representatives for lodges in Denmark, Ireland and Sweden. Premiere of a march specially composed by Sir Michael Costa for the event.
