Performance Notes | Fresh from an awe-inspiring performance in the Elgar Room with her cinematic instrumental group AVAWAVES, award-winning violinist and composer Anna Phoebe returns for a show with collaborators Jacob Downs (piano and vocals), Klara Schumann (cello) and Richard Bundy (synths and vocals).
Known for her extensive cross-genre solo and collaborative projects, her latest album Sea Souls is a rich musical palette inspired by the natural world, exploring the dialogue between the sea and inner psyche. The album has received widespread radio support, including from Scala Radio, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6 Music, Soho Radio, BBC Radio London, and KEXP.
Having toured with Roxy Music, Trans-Siberian Orchestra among others, Annas latest commissions have come from the European Space Agency, writing music to Earth Observation Data tracking the climate crisis; and the University of Kent in association with Cancer Research UK, for whom she composed a choralorchestral work in response to cancer and dementia research.
As a composer for screen, Anna won Best Composer at BAFTA-affiliated Underwire Film Festival for her score for Belittled and was nominated for Best Composer for Harriet and the Matches (featuring Cillian Murphy). She was also recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Ivor Novello Awards. |
