Performance Notes | Junior Classical Coffee Mornings give you the chance to listen to outstanding talent from the Royal College of Music Junior Department at Saturday morning classical recitals in the Hall's Elgar Room.
Joel is 15 and lives in London; he is a music scholar at St Paul's School. He started learning the horn with Claire Gibb when he was 7; since 2007 he has been a pupil of Sue Dent at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where has been awarded the Marjorie Humby Memorial Prize and the Anthony Gray Horn Prize. In 2012 he was selected for the prestigious LSO Brass Academy, a week of intensive study with the principal players of the London Symphony Orchestra.
Having played with the National Children's Orchestra for five years, he joined the National Youth Orchestra in 2010 - he is now their principal horn and has performed in concert halls throughout the UK with them. As soloist he has given recitals in London and as part of the Beaumaris Arts Festival in Anglesey, and as soloist in the Haydn 1st Horn Concerto. He will be performing the Strauss 1st Horn Concerto with the Woking Symphony Orchestra in 2013. |
