Performance Notes	This Quartet have been brought together to perform one of the most ambitious pieces in the twentieth century chamber music repertoire - The Quartet for the End of Times by Olivier Messiaen. Four talented RCM students come together to perform one of the most ambitious pieces in the twentieth century chamber music repertoire, The Quartet for the End of Time by Olivier Messiaen. This work of great structural innovation and spiritual intensity was composed during the first years of the World War II, when a young composer was a prisoner at the concentration camp in Görlitz, Silesia. In this outstanding piece of music Messiaen had for the first time revealed his unique harmonic writing and complex means of expression which made him later one of the most iconic figures in modern music.
