Performance NotesEnjoy an inspirational performance of music from Chopin and Rachmaninoff performed by two outstanding young pianists Clara Sherratt and Markus Sadler, live in the Elgar Room.

Tickets include a hot drink and a pastry.

Clara Sherratt was awarded first prize in the prestigious Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Intercollegiate competition at age 16 – the youngest participant. She was already a prize-winning pianist, being at age 11 one of the youngest ever winners of the Two Moors Festival competition and Bristol Festival of Music.

Clara has been awarded a full scholarship to the Royal College of Music where she will work with the Head of Keyboard, Professor Vanessa Latarche. She is currently a pupil of Professor Dina Parakhina, with whom she has worked for over five years. She is in the final year of the RCM Junior Department, and was previously a pupil of Pascal Nemirovski.

Markus Sadler is 18 years old, was born in Chatham, and goes to school at Holcombe Grammar School. He attends the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music, London, studying the piano with Professor Gordon Fergus-Thompson, and the Trumpet with Phillip Bainbridge. Markus won prizes at the Kent International Piano Course in 2019 and 2020 and has performed in masterclasses with Noriko Ogawa, Seta Tanyel and Peter Donohoe.

As a trumpeter, Markus is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Markus is particularly attracted to Baroque music, and is a keen harpsichordist, playing in a Baroque group at the RCMJD.
