Performance Notes | Junior ignite is run in partnership with Music for Youth to give talented young musicians from around the UK a unique performance opportunity at the Royal Albert Hall.
The North East Folk Collective was formed as a voluntary project in Summer 2010 to give advanced young people, with a passion for traditional music, the opportunity to work together to compose, arrange and perform their own music to as wide an audience as possible. The group has gone from strength to strength and recent highlights have included participating and performing at NAFCo, in Derry and Donegal in June 2012 which saw them collaborate with musicians from Sweden, Newfoundland, Ireland and Scotland, Stonehaven Folk Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010,11 and 12. In 2011 they were selected to record their own original compositions as part of a YMI funded studio recording project. In 2013 they haved performed at at the Music For Youth National Festival in Perth Concert Hall, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Stonehaven Folk Festival and Speyfest. |
