Administrative History | The Halls Council Minutes (28 March 1968) note that the Hall General Manager wanted the furniture in the Royal Retiring Room re-gilded before the Halls Centenary in 1971. He had received a quote for £500 and was informed that the chairs were valuable. The following meeting minutes record that a Mr Arnold Wiggins, a furniture and picture frame restorer suggested that although not genuine Louis XVI furniture they were of considerable value and that any restoration should be carried out by an expert. |
