Performance Notes"THE FIRST NOWELL.
Princess Elizabeth and her little sister, Princess Margaret Rose, won all hearts at the Albert Hall Carol Concert on Saturday afternoon. The small girls made a pretty picture in their bright chery-coloured coats, under which they wore simple white frocks with puff sleeves. The Duchess of York wore blue. At times the exuberance of her younger daughter grew to such a pitch that she thought it safer to have her on her knee.
At frequent intervals Princess Elizabeth whispered inquiries to her mother. Both little girls seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, and when Dr Malcolm Sargent, who conducted the concert, was presented to them in the interval Princess Elizabeth asked him specially to have "The First Nowell" sung before she left, some fifteen minutes before the end of the programme.
Thus, the Carol Concert's traditional conclusing item was performed a little earlier in the programme "by Royal command,"""
