Performance NotesThe event was the first since the murder of Lord Mountbatten who had been the Patron of the Burma Star Association. The evening included the loweing of a white ensign in Mountbatten's memory by a young cadet, and the playing of extracts from his speeches to the troops among them his victory address.

The Ambassadors of Nepal, Burmas and Pakistan and the High Commissioner for India attended. Colonel Viscount Slim, President of the Association, and Air Vice-Marshal Sir Bernard Chacksfield, Chairman, were also present.

The Lady Elizabeth Basset and Sir Martin Gilliat were in attendance.

The HQ 14th Army / 3rd TAF / Chinthe Officers' Dinner Club held its annual reunion at the Hall in conjunction with this event.
