Performance Notes | The National Television Awards is firmly established as TV's most exciting night of the year. What will be voted top talk show, most popular soap or favourite actor? All its winners are selected by viewers in a nation-wide poll.
The event was broadcast on ITV1 at 20:00 to an audience of 5.52million.
This was the last NTA event to be held at the Hall before it moved to the O2 Arena, London.
David Tennant announced via a live video link from Stratford-upon-Avon that he would be leaving Doctor Who after playing the role of The Doctor for 3 series. He said after winning the Outstanding Drama Performance, "I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on Doctor Who, I have loved every day of it. It would be very easy to cling on to the TARDIS console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will... I don't want to oustay my welcome."
A red carpet was laid in the west car park for VIPs entering via Door 6.
