Performance Notes | Drummer 'Topper' Headon, from the Clash, played the tubular bells in the concert because of a good turn he did Anne Collis, freelance timpanist and organiser of the NSP. Her timpani were stolen from her van parked outside her house in Fulham. Headon, who lived nearby innocently bought them for £500 but realised they were stolen goods, having seen an advert in the West London Observer put in by Collis. Headon reunited Collis with her timpani and she asked if he would play at the concert to which he said 'yes'. (The Daily Telegraph, 27 January 1981) |
