Performance NotesThis was the first of 6 concerts organised by the Society of Arts, the first concerts at the Hall to follow the opening, mainly held to test the acoustics. Around 4,500 people came, most more interested in seeing how the Hall looked and sounded than to listen to the music, which, according to the critics, consisted of a well-worn selection.

The Hall sold 878 tickets.
