Performance NotesThe seventh year of the UK Fashion Awards. 65 designs created by 60 semi-finalists were presented on the catwalk chosen by a panel of judges including Alan Couldridge (Head of Fashion at the RCA), Betty Jackson, Joseph Ettedgui, Carolyn Draper (Fashion Editor Company Magazine), Caryn Franklin (Contributing Editor i-D Magazine), and Sebastien de Diesbach (President of Promostyl SA).

Each student chosen was given £120 to make up their garment for the gala show and the judges selected four winners who each received £1000. The overall winner collected a further £1000 prize. Smirnoff offered an additional award of £5000 to the overall winner's college. The 1990 design brief was 'Star Planet'.
