Biography | Beryl Howlett was a natural acrobat. She was 11 years old when she was asked to join Digger Pugh's troupe of acrobats in 1936. She went on to perform globally with Betty Grant, Dorothy Kinner and Marie Ryan as The Four Imps, sometimes called the Wallabies, in a trampoline act.
Beryl met Bob Pullen in Runnymede, and they married in 1948. They moved to Australia the following year. They began to develop a trampolining act - Bob doing comedy stunts and Beryl more serious acrobatic moves. They returned to the UK two years later, and became very popular. The couple split in 1956, Bob leaving Beryl to raise their three children. |
