BiographySolly Kaye (8 October 1913 - 1 May 2005) was an English Communist councillor, activist and journalist.

Kaye was the son of Lithuanian immigrants. His father died when he was five, and his mother became dependent on means-tested charitable benefits. He left school at fourteen, but became a prolific writer and pamphleteer, and, by all accounts, a magnificent orator. He was a veteran of the 1936 battle of Cable Street, which took place as a result of the march planned by Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts through the East End of London.
