| Biography | Ernst van Tiel is a Dutch conductor .
Van Tiel initially studied percussion and piano at the Utrecht Conservatory , before he in 1985 with his studies in orchestral conducting began at Lucas Vis , Franco Ferrara and Jean Fournet .
Van Tiel conducted the Dutch radio orchestras and was assistant conductor at the Dutch Opera . In 1990 he became chief conductor and artistic director of the Amsterdam Promenade Orchestra . He was a guest conductor with many orchestras in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, including at the Orchestre de Paris and the orchestra of the Teatro Communale di Bologna . He was assistant conductors with Christoph von Dohnányi and Valeri Gergiev. |
