Biography | The instrumental group Bob Miller And The Millermen appeared regularly on UK television and radio programmes in the 50s and early 60s. After being noticed at several London gigs, including one at the Locarno Ballroom, Streatham, in London, on Coronation Day, 2 June 1953, Miller appeared on BBC Televisions Dig This. He subsequently toured with current stars such as Cliff Richard, Bobby Darin, the Four Freshmen and Shirley Bassey. Later, on shows such as Drumbeat (for eight years), and the radio series, Parade Of The Pops (a review of the weeks popular music, and prediction of hits to come), they backed many of the UKs top vocalists, and had their own featured spots. Their records included Muchacha, Square Bash, Dig This, The Poacher, Little Dipper, In The Mood, My Guys Come Back, The Buskers Tune, Manhunt, 77 Sunset Strip and Joeys Song. For much of his life, Millers abiding interest has been yacht racing, and in June 1972 he participated in the Transatlantic Race, providing a day-by-day radio commentary. |
