The English mezzo-soprano, Catherine Denley, grew up in Oundle, Northamptonshire, England, and graduated from Trinity College of Music in London.

Catherine Denley has devoted most of her career to the oratorio repertoire, with numerous broadcasts and successful recordings to her name. After a brief time in the BBC Singers embarked upon a solo career which has since taken her all over Europe and as far afield as the USA, Canada, China, Japan, Macau, Israel, the Czech Republic and the Ukraine.

Recent engagements have included J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) in Salzburg and Innsbruck; Mozart's Requiem in London's Royal Festival Hall and also in Finland and Spain; Benjamin Britten's Spring Symphony with the Hallé Orchestra under Kent Nagano; J.S. Bach's St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) at The Barbican and Canterbury Cathedral, and George Frideric Handel' s Jephtha and Judas Maccabaeus with RIAS in Berlin. She has also taken part in Gustav Mahler's Eighth Symphony for TV in Dublin under Owain Arwel Hughes; Channel 4's 'Maestro' Series in which she sang Antonio Vivaldi's arias from Venice; Tippet's A Child of our Time with King's College Choir Cambridge; L.v. Beethoven's Ninth with John Eliot Gardiner in Japan; G. Mahler's 'Resurrection' Symphony in Odessa and Kiev; G.F. Handel's Deborah at the Proms, and a production of G.F. Handel's Ezio in the Champs-Elysées Theatre in Paris. She has given concerts at the Flanders and Edinburgh Festivals; Schumann's Scenes From Goethe's Faust with Franz Welser-Most and the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Royal Festival Hall; A. Vivaldi's Gloria with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields; Messiah at The Barbican and in Macau; J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232) with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra; Edward Elgar's The Kingdom in Wells Cathedral, and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music at The Barbican. Most recently she has sung the part of Juno in the Halle Opernhaus production of G.F. Handel's Semele, performed G.F. Handel's La Resurrezione in Paris with Les Musiciens du Louvre, and Solomon for radio in Berlin. She has toured Japan with Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.
