Biography | Christoph Caskel (January 12 1932 in Greifswald, Germany) is a German concert drummer and music educator.
Since the early 1960s Caskel was mainly due to performances of chamber music and solo works of contemporary music (such as Stockhausen's 'Cycle for a Drummer', 1959) known and performed internationally as a concert drummer.
In 1963 he received the Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia for music. Since 1975 he is professor for timpani and percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Köln . His students have included, among others Manos Tsangaris, Janos Darvas, Thomas Oesterdiekhoff, Sascha Dragicevic, Peter Hänsch, Nicholas Bardach, Paul Lovens, Thomas Meixner, Robert Shepherd, Jonathan Funk, Hans Ulrich Humpert and Michael Kuttner. |
