Biography | Alan Vincent - conductor Alan was educated in London and at Clare College, Cambridge where he took a degree in music. After teaching in Hastings and Eltham he became an education inspector in London and later Kent where he founded and conducted Kent Youth Choir, Kent Youth Chamber Orchestra, Kent Schools Orchestra and the occasional adult chorus, Kent County Singers.
During his time as music director and principal conductor of Kent County Youth Orchestra he appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, annually at the Royal Festival Hall, and regularly in Kent. He has toured with the orchestra in Argentina, Brazil, Portugal and France and with Kent Chamber Choir in Brazil, Finland, France, Sweden and The Czech Republic.
Alan continues to conduct young musicians in orchestras and choirs at Kent Music's residential summer school and was invited back to direct Kent County Youth Orchestra's 50th Anniversary Concert in September 2013 which featured Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Kent County Singers, Kent Youth Choirs and distinguished soloists.
He has been music director of Gravesham Choral Society and Orchestra since 1981, Kent Chamber Choir since founding it in 1983, and has recently been appointed conductor of Sussex Chorus. He composes for the youngsters and adults with whom he has the pleasure and privilege of working. |
